Your day to day responsibility will be to manage and oversee our municipal parking operations, facilities and programs. You will also provide administrative and technical support to enhance parking operations and develop long-term plans and strategies for parking inventories and traffic regulations, all while providing effective leadership and direction to the Parking Service team, to support the City of Fort Lauderdale's vision and objectives. 

 Your expert collaboration skills will serve you well as you partner with a large and diverse group of internal and external stakeholders including city, county, and state officials, management teams, vendors, neighbors and guests.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the work of your team; delegating and reviewing work assignments; conducting performance reviews and helping team members grow and advance in their own careers.

  • Manage the daily operations of the City’s municipal parking system; plans, organizes, budgets, directs, and coordinates activities.

  • Conduct long range planning studies for future parking areas and opportunities for potential meter placement.

  • Work closely with City departments, private consultants, contractors, and other governmental agencies in determining the City’s future parking needs.

  • Oversee the operations and maintenance of all City owned parking garages, surface lots, on-street parking, and related building facilities.

  • Participate in the City’s Development Review Committee (DRC) process; reviewing and approving development plans.

  • Conduct parking surveys; making recommendations to the department director regarding any necessary changes concerning time limits, and installation or removal of parking meters. 

  • Develop partnership agreements for general public parking; promote the City’s parking services through special events.

Attend meetings with other departments, agencies, civic groups, and various other outside board meetings as a representative of the division and/or department.

What You Need To Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning, or a related field

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative and managerial work experience in municipal parking systems, garage management, budget management and administration, and enforcement, including at least two (2) years of parking systems supervisory experience.

  • Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for one year of the required experience or education.

  • Certified Parking Professional, or Certified Administrative Parking Professional.
